Detailed Install Instructions for ISELL Free/Paid Classifieds Script.

The following instructions are for detailed install of the ISELL CGI script on a varity of servers and hosts. For this install you need to download the ISELL script to your home computer, and then re-upload this to a remote server, where it will be hosted for you.

Your website host must allow CGI scripts to be run at your website. A good number of "free hosting services" and the majority of "paid hosting services" allow this as standard equipment. If you host does not allow this you can ask to have it turned on [if a "paid hosting service"], or use one of the recommended "free hosting services".

The only program you need to upload the ISELL script from your computer to your webhosting service is what is called an "FTP" or File Transfer Program software. You can use "WS-FTP" which is FREE, get it at www.shareware.com - search for it's name - download time in approximately 5 minutes or less. Other programs such as "Cute-Ftp" can also be used. Basically ANY program that can transfer files from your home computer to a remote server will work.

All examples are based on using "WS-FTP" program, all other programs are very similar.

UPGRADE NOTICE:

If you ALREADY have the script installed and you are upgrading, please go here FIRST to download the upgrade files.

Setup on a FREE hypermart.net account or webhosting sites without a "CGI-BIN" folder:

1. Start up your WS-FTP program
2. Login into your hypermart account / website hosting account.
3. Make a new directory or folder called "C".
4. Highlight this folder, RIGHT CLICK and choose CHMOD.*
5. Check off Owner - Read, Write, EXECUTE
   Check off Group - Read , EXECUTE
   Check off Other - Read , EXECUTE
   [for CuteFtp or other programs that allow you to enter a value for CHMOD, this would be 755 or 0755]**
6. Click OK.
7. Double click on this new folder to open it.
8. Find your copy of classifieds.cgi on your computer [in the local window].
9. Set your UPLOAD type to "ASCII" - DO NOT use "BINARY" or "AUTOMATIC MODE".
   Failure to upload this in the proper mode, will cause "Internal Server Error".
10. Highlight it, and click the arrow to upload it [ " -->  " ].
11. It should then appear on the remote server.
12. Highlight it, and RIGHT CLICK and Choose CHMOD.
13. Check off Owner - Read, Write, EXECUTE
    Check off Group - Read , EXECUTE
    Check off Other - Read , EXECUTE

14. The ISELL software is now installed and read to run.
15. To start it, enter the following address in your Internet Browser:
    http://mysitename.hypermart.net/c/classifieds.cgi
    ["mysitename" with be the LOGIN name you choose or name of the account, if you have a full domain name format will be:
    http://mysitename.com/c/classifieds.cgi  , where "mysitename.com" will be your full domain name.]
16. Once started, it is ready for use. Use your admin password to customize the site - see ADMIN section at
    for more information.

* If you get an Internal Server Error, when you try to go to the classifieds site, redo the step 3 and step 4, but change the following for step 4:

• Check off Owner - Read, Write, EXECUTE
  Check off Group - Read, Write, EXECUTE
  Check off Other - Read, Write, EXECUTE
  [for CuteFtp or other programs that allow you to enter a value for CHMOD, this would be 777 or 0777]**
• Then re-try Step 14 above.

** If you can not do this step, or the server responds with an error saying "you are not allowed to do this" / "make this setting" or something similar, then you may have to TELNET or contact your website hosting Admin to have them do this for you. Refer them to this page, the one you are reading now - for instructions.

Setup on a webhosting sites with a "CGI-BIN" folder
[this will cover almost 90% of PAID hosting accounts]:

1. Start up your WS-FTP program
2. Login into hosting account.
3. Go to your directory or folder where files for web are located [ usually called "web","public_html","www" ], then locate
   the CGI, CGI-BIN or other folder with a similar name - double click to open it.
   Exception:
   If when you login into your account you can see a "CGI" or "CGI-BIN" or "CGIBIN" or something similar go to this
   folder and double click to open it - some hosting accounts have CGI scripts separated from HTML files.
4. Make a new directory or folder called "C".
5. Highlight this folder, RIGHT CLICK and choose CHMOD.*
6. Check off Owner - Read, Write, EXECUTE
   Check off Group - Read , EXECUTE
   Check off Other - Read , EXECUTE
   [for CuteFtp or other programs that allow you to enter a value for CHMOD, this would be 755 or 0755]**
7. Click OK.
8. Double click on this new folder to open it.
9. Find your copy of classifieds.cgi on your computer [in the local window].

• IF you still get an "Internal Server Error", try the previous install instructions above for "hypermart" accounts. If this does not work, you can contact your webhosting company to see if they need to "turn on CGI" on your account OR you can get a FREE HYPERMART account, and simply do the install there - we know these work without problems [go to www.hypermart.net to get a free account ] .
