, it was a very sad and tragic day - June 2 2005 - on that
day a legend, mentor and a friend died in a racing accident - Corey
Rudl, owner and founder of the Internet Marketing Center.

To say I was in shock was an understatement. I had known him and worked
with Corey often over the past 8+ years. He has helped my business
and family a great deal - something I will always be thankful for
and in debited to him.

A number of people called and emailed me on June 3 2005 alerting me
to his untimely death. I also received a number of emails from
business owners like myself that felt the positive impact of
all Corey's teaching announcing his passing.

It was a dark time.

I decided to wait until conferring with Internet Marketing Center
personnel and attending his memorial in person to write this letter
of his passing and life lessons. Part of this was because of
respect - the other part was I wanted to learn about who Corey
was as a person from those that loved him and knew him best;
as I did not have the privilege of knowing him personally
as well as I would have liked in the short time I knew him.

On June 15 2005 I attended Corey's memorial in Vancouver BC, Canada.
There were over 500 people in attendance there ; including of course
his family and wife Tracy as well as many of the people Corey
had helped over the past 9+ years. From that event I learned
just how great an impact Corey had on his family and his extended
family worldwide.

It was clear that Corey was beloved by his wife Tracy [married
last year], his family - especially his sister Hope, and his
Internet Marketing Center family as well. The stories of how
hard Corey worked to start Internet Marketing Center and his
businesses was told... it was amazing. But what struck me hardiest
was his love of his sister Hope and his relationship with her.
That was truly special and unique and a testament to who Corey
was as a person.

Then there is the literally millions of people Corey's teaching
has impacted worldwide... On June 14 2005, his wife Tracy emailed
all the subscribers on Corey's Marketingtips.com newsletter list.

Within hours there was over 10,000 emails from all over the
world to Tracy about the impact Corey has on their lives and
condolences to her on his untimely passing.

To say a great husband, family man, internet marketing legend,
business master, mentor and friend was lost June 2 would be
understatement... and attending his memorial brought this
into very clear focus for me and many others.

With that said I would like to share something with you.

Travis Moss delivered a very powerful message in terms of a life
lesson... and it was from a speech from Nelson Mandila:

"People do not fear failure as much as they fear success"

... people are afraid they might become successful.

This powerful statement speaks volumes of how Corey pursued everything
in life - at 100 MPH, full out, 110% effort at all times. Derek
Gerl remarked that in order to keep up with Corey when he walked,
you had to run. Corey did not fear success - he embraced it.

That speaks volumes. It is an attitude.

Embrace your Destiny...
Embrace your Dreams...

Go after your success with all your heart and soul... and never
give up. Stop fearing success, believe in yourself and embrace
success head on .

That was Corey and that was his life lesson to all.

To all of you that have purchased Corey's course[s] and/or teaching
about Internet Marketing... open it up again and read it from
cover to cover... AND APPLY IT / USE IT. This is truly what
Corey wanted for people to learn how to market online, do it right
and apply it to become successful.

Corey happy - that was what he truly wanted for you to succeed.

Corey - you will be dearly missed and the path you blazed
will lead many to success for years to come...

"When Was the Last Time You Upgraded Your Business?"

It seems that we constantly have to upgrade our computer
software and equipment. We only use our programs and computers a
few months before it makes sense to replace them. It's not that
they're completely obsolete; it's just that there's usually
something much better and often for only a bit more cost.

Do we treat our business models that way? Not very often. If
we're lucky enough to find a business model that works, we
usually keep on using it--to our detriment--with little
modification.

Why should our business be any different than the tools and
equipment we use? It's critical that we make regular changes
that will keep pace with our customers, our competitors and the
market.

Business is changing more rapidly than ever before. What worked
last year may not work any longer. Entire industries are
emerging and fading in less than a decade. To be competitive, we
must be able to change with everything else that's changing
around us.

Tweaking and improving what we already have may be sufficient.
But often we need to make more radical changes. Our business
model must sometimes be scrapped and replaced with another.

Some Obstacles
It's easier to keep doing what we're doing. We're all creatures
of habit and we have a tendency to dig holes deeper instead of
digging new holes. This keeps us focused on what we're doing but
not necessarily what we're attempting to accomplish.

We think making a change labels what we WERE doing as wrong. Our
stakeholders expect consistency. They don't like change any more
than we do. And most business leaders are reluctant to let go of
the old way and embrace the new because they fear being judged
as having been doing it wrong.

The staff doesn't like change. The owner or manager who is
willing to lead and affect change often has a tough role because
of a we've-always-done-it-this-way mentality. This resistance is
a serious challenge.

Customers don't ALWAYS know what's best. Listening to our
customers and attempting to fulfill their needs is a valuable
practice. Certainly we need to help our clients solve problems
and overcome challenges. But we can't DEPEND on our customers
for this. If we do, we'll miss many opportunities to lead the
market with products and services that our customers didn't even
know they wanted.

A Few Solutions
Embrace change as a good thing and not just something to be
tolerated. As long as we make what we were doing wrong, we
thwart our ability to make good decisions. When we lock onto the
old, we have little ability to welcome the new. Even a trapeze
artist has to let go of one trapeze in order to catch the next
one. Develop the attitude that we're making an improvement
instead of not doing what we did before.

Nurture a culture of creativity and innovation. A world class
business leader knows that they must create an environment for
creativity. They know they need to always reward thinking
outside of the box. The safety to question anything and
everything is paramount.

Conduct 'What's Not World Class Meetings'. On a regular basis,
small groups and large should be convened to challenge what's
being done, what's not being done and how it's done. Every
aspect of the business must be looked at with a fresh eye and an
open mind. What needs to be scrapped? What needs to be added?
What no longer serves our customer? Where are we looking good
and where are we looking bad? Establish priorities and take
action.

Make a habit of holding these meetings and you'll start to see
real progress. You'll find that the process will continue even
after the formal meeting ends.

Recognize that your biggest expense is the money you DON'T make.
Every business leaves money on the table. It's our job to
discover ways in which we can maximize all of our revenue.
There's always a way to do this. Pretend your company is being
bought by another corporation--what are some things they might
do to uncover hidden revenues?

Step back and away from your business and your industry.
Critical to creating a world class business is to constantly
gain new perspectives on what you do and how you do it. Abraham
Lincoln once said, "If I had three hours to chop down trees, I'd
spend two hours sharpening my blade." That's what getting away
to conferences, symposiums, classes and master mind meetings can
do for you--sharpen your upgrade blade.

Read, study, listen, explore. Take every chance to expose
yourself to new ideas and be reminded of things you already
know. And don't make it exclusive to your industry. If you're
clear on your mission and your purpose as well as the major
problems you're striving to solve, you'll get ideas from
anywhere and everywhere. Read something unrelated to your work.
Study something dramatically different from what you normally
do. See for yourself how your perspective will improve.

We need to keep what works and change what doesn't. We need to
stay fresh and have a better perspective and yet remain
consistent with the things that support our mission.

Being a business leader requires one to constantly balance the
unchanging principles with strategies that need to be tweaked
and updated. Constant and never-ending improvement is the
watchword of business in the 21st century.

I urge you to look for what systems, models, departments,
processes--and yes, even people--need upgrading.

"In Praise of Rebellion: 10 Steps to Supercharge YOUR Life"

Are you totally happy with life as it is? How about
with yourself? If you are anything less than TOTALLY
satisfied with your own status quo -- I encourage open
and wild rebellion!

STOP accepting your limitations. The probability is
they don't even belong to you, anyway.

Well maybe your Mom was somewhat right when she told
you to "stop acting like an idiot" when you tried to
act like her at age five. But does that mean you can't
act today? That you don't "have it" -- whatever "it"
is!

Or maybe your 6th grade teacher was somewhat right when
he told you "can't write," just because you happened to
be a terrible speller. Does that mean you don't have
any writing skill - although you "wish" you were a
writer?

Step 1. Start by understanding that you are NOT the
person you think you are. You are NOT that five year
old child who was put down for acting like his mother
so well that it made her uncomfortable. And you are not
that 6th grader who wrote so fast and well that
spelling was never an issue.

So why do those old scars stay with us for a lifetime?
It's because your subconscious mind is like a 24/7
movie camera. It never stops recording your life -- and
takes special note of any event that has an intense
emotion attached to it.

Step 2. Realize that deep within you lives a being of
great courage and creativity -- a child-like self that
delights in exploration, and has unquestioned
confidence in itself. That is your REAL self -- your
TRUE nature.

Step 3. It's time to rebel against any old memories of
limitation. Against scars from criticism. Against
denied encouragement and recognition. Just rebel!!!

Get over it!

OK -- so you came to believe that something was wrong
with you. That you were somehow imperfect or limited.

Just stop buying into that. It's false, and no longer
appropriate for who you really are. That's what is
meant by the expression, "You become exactly what, and
who, you think you are."

That is, you are NOT a poor writer or an inept actor --
but if you BELIEVE you are, you WILL act in that way.

Step 4. Realize that when you try to improve yourself,
you can bet you'll meet with some internal resistance.

Why is this so?

Because change represents the destruction of your
present identity. And that powerful subconscious mind
of yours is going to bitch ... and resist ... and
complain -- and even try to throw you back into the
comfort zone of your old familiar limoiting belief
system.

Just face your own resistance head on. Remind yourself
that the new you is what you WANT to become. Just
persist.

Step 5. Absolutely refuse to remain in your comfort
zone. Become willing to challenge your assumptions
about yourself, and to step right into the face of your
fears.

If you feel uncomfortable, that's actually a good sign
that you are changing and growing. As Kahlil Gibran
(1883 ~ 1931) wrote, "The lust for comfort…enters the
house as a guest, and then becomes a host, and then a
master."

Step 6. Don't waste any effort trying to "prove" you
have worth. You are who you are -- a totally unique
being. You don't have to be a perfect anything
(whatever perfect is) to have worth. The only thing
"wrong" about you is your incorrect idea that you are
"imperfect." So just give it up.

Step 7. Don't waste your time rebelling against what
other people "think of you," or their opinions of "what
you should do." Target your rebellion against your own
imaginary limitations.

This IS YOUR life! Resolve to take full responsibility
for making your own decisions, and assume full
responsibility for your own success and happiness.

Step 8. Seize the day! Decide what YOU want to do with
your life. Listen to your inner voice for guidance and
begin to take the steps you know you should take.

Take action. Nothing destroys doubt and fear like
action. And if you make some mistakes, that' just a
sign you are doing some positive risk taking (the sign
of an emerging leader).

Step 9. Embrace the unknown. Part of your self-doubt is
created by a fear of the unknown. Erase fear by
changing your outlook. "Fear" is simply another word
for "adventure."

Step 10. Pay NO attention to the criticism of others.
Don't let other people project their own insecurities
onto you. Become a risk-taker, and leave other people
to their own limitations.

The criticisms of others just reflect their own
personal limitations.

Here's something to think about: In 1944 the Director
of the Blue Book Modeling Agency rejected Marilyn
Monroe, saying: "You'd better learn secretarial work,
or else get married."

When Ronald Reagan auditioned for the starring role
in the l964's movie, "The Best Man," he was rejected by
a key United Artists executive. "Reagan doesn't have the
presidential look," the executive said.

So you can see what it makes no sense to listen to the
so-called experts. YOU are the one and only expert on
your own self, and how well your life is going!

This is a good day to claim your TRUE SELF. Just throw
out your chest, open your lungs and roar like a lion.
