Review: Mailloop 6.0 -- Business Automation Software

Now that I've been using the new Mailloop 6.0 software for a couple
of weeks, I thought I should share some of my impressions with
everyone about whether or not it lives up to the promises that
Internet Marketing Center makes about it on his web site.

Could it really be that easy to use? Would it really simplify
my business and save me time? Would it really help me make
more money? I was determined to find out!

The first thing that impressed me was how easy the program
was to install and set up. Since I'm no computer genius,
I am always relieved when things work right the first time!
And once I started actually using the program, I have to
say that I was blown away at how simple everything is.
(There are even about 10 different "Wizards" that walk
you through the more technical areas of getting things set up.)

The feature I was most excited about was the unlimited
sequential autoresponders, so I decided to set those up
first. Now, I always expect a few glitches as I'm learning
to use a new program, but Mailloop 6.0 made the whole
process completely "goof-proof." I was thrilled when
I tested out my first autoresponder... and discovered
that it worked perfectly!

(Did I already mention that you get unlimited
series of autoresponders? My biggest complaint
about most online autoresponder services is that
you pay $20 or $30 a month, and you only get to
set up ONE autoresponder series. With Mailloop 6.0,
you could literally have thousands of different
autoresponders set up for your business.)

I was equally amazed at how easily I could import
my existing lists into the program and start working
with them immediately. And Mailloop 6.0 lets you store up to
25 pieces of information about every person on your list
in the built-in database, meaning that you can add an
amazing levels of personalization and customization
to your e-mail promotions.

I could go on and on, but...

Here's the bottom line: This software does absolutely
everything it claims to -- and much more! It takes
care of subscribe/unsubscribe requests, it automatically
replies to your customers and answers their questions
for you, it lets you store TONS of data about
everyone on your mailing list, and (best of all)
it lets you set up unlimited series of autoresponders!

Since I started using Mailloop 6.0, it has saved me
about 90 minutes of boring e-mail-related work
every day.

"Pump Up Your Web Sales Using Auto-responders"

A web site with no traffic is not a business asset; it's a
liability. The cost in money and time to create and
maintain a web site is just the beginning. There is the
further investment of resources to get traffic. With the
goal of profitability in mind, the central question a web
site owner must address is how to maximize the value of
visitors once you get them to visit the site. One important
element of the strategy is to make use of an auto-
responder.

A brief definition of an auto-responder: by email, an auto-
responder sends an immediate reply when a person buys
something online, sends to a specified email address, or
fills out a website form. The content of the auto-response
message could be information, an electronic receipt, an e-
course, and so forth. When people go online, they are often
searching for information, and auto-responders gratify them
with instant delivery of material they've requested.

When the visitor requests information, they give their
email address for its delivery (by auto-responder). You
have thus been given permission to follow-up with the
prospect, and that is what makes auto-responders an
essential marketing tool.

How do auto-responders enable you to follow up with
prospects? If you have properly set up opt-in plus an auto-
responder series, you aren't personally involved in follow
up. The auto-responder contacts the prospect with the
initial reply and beyond, becoming in effect your
constantly at work, automated sales force. All you have to
do is set it up one time. Write the follow up messages,
program the intervals at which you want your messages sent,
then the auto-responder set-up works for you again and
again on auto-pilot.

What would be included in an auto-responder series or e-
course? Each series that you set up would be messages that
are related to the original inquiry for information that
the prospect made. For example, a prospect visits a site on
smoking cessation, where products are sold. A form on the
site allows the visitor to receive a free emailed
'pamphlet' with the top 10 strategies used by successful
former smokers. The visitors' curiosity is piqued, they
fill out the email form on the web site that is tied to an
auto-responder, and they are pleased to get fr~ee
information immediately. Plus they were informed at the web
site that in addition to the email 'pamphlet' with the top
10 strategies, they will receive further smoking cessation
related tips and encouragement in an e-course over the next
several days or weeks, or whatever fits the situation.

What does an e-course or auto-responder do to increase
sales? All effective online marketing makes use of email
somehow. But a single email is not enough contact for most
prospects to feel a sense of trust and then take action.
Marketers in any arena usually expect to put something
before prospects from 4 to 8 times. The majority of buyers
need repetition before they really 'get' a new advertising
message and decide to entrust their money by acting on it.
You are losing money if you aren't using some kind of
system for 4 to 8 follow-up messages that are consistent
and timely.

What is a recommended balance in the auto-responder series
between information and marketing? Generally, when visitors
give their email address, they want to receive targeted
information, and maybe to receive notices about special
promotions. Just keep in mind that they aren't interested
in your objectives, but only in what is in it for them. So,
give them what they want - useful and accurate information.
A ratio of about 75% information and 25% marketing will
keep people opening the emails in your auto-responder
series.

If you sell services one of the biggest challenges is
identifying qualified prospects who want what you have to
offer and are ready to buy. It is possible to waste time on
cold calls and other marketing activities that turn up
little in the way of sales. Wouldn't you rather have a
steady stream of hot leads, leads that not only include
contact information but give you an idea of what the
prospect needs, the problem they want solved?

You have a web site, and hundreds if not thousands of
people visit your site each week. If your site is working
well it should be providing you with a list of hundreds of
people who want to be on your marketing list each week
and dozens of qualified leads, people who want you to call
them right away about your services.

Use the following five tactics to generate a list of
qualified prospects.

1. Collect Contact Information
Strive to collect the email address of every person who
visits your web site and is interested in the problems you
solve. Offer a free article, tutorial or guide as bait to
motivate people to give you their email address so you
can market to them again and again.

Offer prospects something they want, and place your
sign-up form prominently at the top of your home page
and in a side navigation bar on the other pages of your
site. This should help you capture the email addresses of
10-20% of the people who visit your site each week.

2. Use Auto Responders to Collect Detailed Information
If you use a free giveaway and the briefest of sign up
forms to get people to give you their email information
you can market to prospects but wouldn't it be helpful to
have more information?

Use an autoresponder to send people a confirmation when
they request your free article or sign up for your
newsletter. In the email ask them for detailed contact
information and ask them a couple of questions about
what they're interested in.

3. Get People to Tell You How You Can Help Them
Many people use the web as tool to find solutions and to
hire people who can help them solve their problems. If
you are a financial advisor, giving away an article on
financial tips is a great way to get contact information
but what you really want to do is to identify those
people who have an immediate interest in your services.

Prompt people to contact you by including an inquiry form
on your web site, but don't make the mistakes made on
most web sites. Too often inquiry forms are buried on the
site, multiple clicks away from the pages most frequently
viewed by your visitors. Include your form on high
visibility pages, at the bottom of your homepage and
other key pages about your services and products.

Use your inquiry form to both collect contact information
and to identify the services your prospects are interested
in and how you can help them. When you make your
follow up calls you'll know where to start the conversation.

When you receive completed inquiry forms you can sort
through them to identify which ones are worth following
up on based on the answers provided. Then pick up the
phone and use these qualified leads to find new clients
and grow your business.

4. Collect Feedback and Learn More About Your Prospect's
Needs
When people visit your sell pages, the web pages that
describe your products and services, they've expressed an
interest. Some will move directly to purchase, others will
discover they don't have any further interest and a large
number will fall into the middle. These are people who are
interested but not ready to commit.

Before visitors leave your web site sell pages, you can
use exit pop up windows to collect feedback and to find
out what they are looking for.

Offer a free article to motivate visitors to fill in the
form. When you get these feedback forms, follow up with
a call. Use this conversation to find out why they didn't
buy the service or product or to get further information
about the problems they want solved. Once you have these
prospects on the phone you'll be surprised how many you
can turn into clients.

5. Send out Surveys to Identify What Sells
If you have a newsletter you can leverage the trust of
your readers to collect ideas of what they want to buy.
If you've been sending out ideas and information to your
target market periodically they will be more than likely
to respond when you ask for their input.

Two to four times per year, send an informal survey to your
subscriber base, asking for their ideas. Ask them which of
your product or service ideas they like best and what they
need and want. Tabulate their responses and develop the
products and services they asked for.

Use these five lead collection strategies to identify
prospects with a problem, one you can solve. Once you know
who needs your help, its easy to follow up, close the sale
and grow your business.

Have you ever heard of the "Pareto Principle"? If you
haven't, you are missing out on one of the MOST EFFECTIVE
routes there is to bigger profits.

Also known as "The Vital Few and Trivial Many Rule," the
Pareto Principle was named after the Italian economist who
observed in 1906 that 20% of the Italian population owned
80% of Italy's wealth.

He then noticed that 20% of the pea pods in his garden
accounted for 80% of his pea crop each year. Coincidence?
Well, it got him thinking...

Vilfredo Pareto applied this 80-20 rule to pretty much
everything -- and whether or not you agree with it is your
prerogative. But when it comes to your e-business, you're
missing out on a lot of profit if you don't realize that...

20% of your customers are
RESPONSIBLE for 80% OF YOUR SALES!

With other applications of the Pareto Principle, it's often
impossible to determine the accuracy of the ratio (i.e., 20%
of the food you eat is responsible for 80% of your health).
But in your e-business, you can easily track which customers
are buying customers...

It's a little-recognized fact that at least 20% of people
who have purchased from you once will buy from you again...
IF you follow up with them. One-fifth of your customer base
is just waiting for you to offer them something new.

So if you are not following up with your customers, you're
actually IGNORING 80% of your business' profit potential!

------------------------------------
1. FOLLOW UP WITH YOUR KEY CUSTOMERS
------------------------------------

If you don't follow up with your customers, you are losing A
LOT OF PROFIT -- it's as simple as that.

The fact is, when a person trusts you and likes your product
or service enough to buy from you once, they'll often buy
from you again and again.

Your existing customer base is FOUR OR FIVE TIMES MORE
LIKELY TO BUY from you than a "cold" market... and the
"lifetime value" of these customers is one of the greatest
assets of your business.

Repeat sales can be so profitable that some people even
offer their product or service below cost on the first sale
-- just to get their potential customers to buy (think of
all the mail-order book clubs and CD clubs that let you
purchase 11 books or CDs for a penny!).

Because once people have bought for the first time, at
least 20% of them will buy again... And this backend market
should be where you focus A GOOD DEAL OF YOUR ATTENTION.

You have already cultivated a relationship with your
customers -- you have put in the time and money to get their
attention, establish credibility, and close that first sale.

That's by far the most difficult part -- not to mention the
most expensive. Think of all the planning, advertising, and
promotional activity that goes into getting those initial
sales...

But once you've acquired those customers, you can develop
their "lifetime value." Show appreciation and offer special
incentives to them. Send them "thank-you for your purchase"
messages, renewal notices, and free information. Reward them
for being loyal customers and they'll become even more loyal.

And offer them more products! If they liked what they
bought, they'll buy from you again.

2. WHAT TO OFFER
----------------

The most brilliant thing about follow-up offers is that
THEY DON'T COST YOU A SINGLE RED CENT. You've already
dealt with the salespeople, the brochures, the mailouts,
the ad placement, etc.

But now that you've made those initial sales, and in the
process collected the e-mail addresses of your customers,
you can simply e-mail all of your previous customers your
special follow-up offer... so all of the sales you garner
are 100% pure profit!

Of course, you have to ensure that what you're offering is
something your customer base is actually interested in -- so
the kinds of follow-up items you offer will depend on your
business. But consider the following types of offers and
think of how they could apply to your business...

1. OFFER PRODUCTS THAT COMPLEMENT YOUR
INITIAL PRODUCT.

For example, if you sold golf clubs, you could offer
customers a golf club bag to carry them in.

But it doesn't have to be quite that closely related
-- for example, if you sold memberships to fitness
programs, you could also offer fitness clothing,
fitness books... you could even promote daycare
programs to provide fitness moms with more options!

Even if you have to struggle to come up with an idea
for a complementary product, it will be well worth
the effort.

You've already got the interest of your customers, so
at this point you have to think of any way possible to
keep them buying, because buy they will... unless you
don't offer them anything!

2. SELL MORE OF THE SAME PRODUCT AT A
DISCOUNTED PRICE.

Show customer appreciation by offering them a "special
discount" on the product they're already buying.

If your product is refillable, you've got it made. Your
"Vital Few" customers will purchase the product repeatedly
over a lengthy period of time -- and this gives you a
legitimate reason to get in touch at regular intervals.

But even if your product isn't refillable, you can offer
upgrades, newer versions, improved models, or add-ons to
the original product. And each time you contact your
customer, you can offer a special discount on a new or
related item also -- even offer something free to maintain
their interest!

3. USE NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIPTIONS AS UP-SELL OR
BACKEND PRODUCTS.

Once people trust you enough to buy from you, they'll
likely be interested in hearing more of what you have
to say.

Newsletters are also an excellent way to stay in constant
communication with your customers, answer their questions,
respond to their concerns, and provide them with the kind
of knowledge they'll need if they're using your products.

In the process, you will establish yourself as an expert
in your industry and a reliable source of information.

4. TRY SPLITTING UP YOUR CURRENT PRODUCT AND
SELLING IT AS SEPARATE SEGMENTS.

For example, if you were selling a book on research
methods on the Internet, you could offer a basic version
for $9.95 to generate a large volume of sales at a low
price.

Then, 30 days later, you could offer them an advanced
version for $29.95 or even $39.95, and increase your
profits dramatically!

You could sell the smaller, individual parts of your
product separately, but also offer a package deal with
everything included for a bit of a discount. That way,
you'll cover a couple of different price points and
appeal to a wider range of customers.

5. TRY SELLING YOUR CUSTOMERS AN UPGRADE
TO THEIR PRODUCT.

If they've used and liked your basic model, they'll be
open to suggestion, provided that you can show them why
and how the upgrade is better.

6. OFFER SOMEONE ELSE'S PRODUCT!

I know it sounds a bit odd, but as long as the product or
service is not in direct competition with your own, you
can make a good profit (and further develop your
relationship with your customers) by offering a great
backend item as an affiliate.

Joining affiliate programs can be a very lucrative way
to increase your sales. With an affiliate program, you
have the opportunity to give a highly credible personal
recommendation to your customer base (which is one of
the most effective sales techniques) and claim a
percentage of each sale... without having to develop
a new product of your own!

This can be an enormous timesaver and, done right, can
make up a significant part of your business.

In fact, many people earn considerable online incomes
these days just by promoting affiliate products. You
have to do your research accordingly, however, and only
recommend products that you truly believe in before you
can make a business of selling them.

Also, keep in mind that selling too broad a variety of
products as an affiliate will do nothing but confuse
your market -- and lose you sales. Keep your focus
narrowed and your niche well-defined.

7. OFFER INCENTIVES AND INFORMATION TO KEEP
YOUR BUSINESS IN YOUR CUSTOMERS' MINDS.

You don't always have to be pushing products -- in fact,
if you try the hard-sell approach each and every time
you contact your opt-in list, they'll start to see you
as a nuisance.

So offer a "tip of the day" or contest entry to entice
your customers to your site. Stay in touch through
newsletters and discussion groups. Observe holidays
and special occasions... (you could tie in promotions
to these events).

Because while you certainly want to sell more products
or services to this lucrative group, you also want to
balance sales with relationship building... developing
more trust, credibility, and customer loyalty each step
of the way.

3. AUTOMATE YOUR FOLLOW-UP
----------------------------

Okay, maybe I was wrong... maybe THIS is the most brilliant
part about follow-up offers:

Not only do you not have to spend any money to make follow-up
offers -- YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO SPEND ANY TIME!

You can AUTOMATE the entire process using autoresponders
that will...

- Send a "thank-you for your purchase and order
confirmation" type of message -- you could also
offer a discount on a related item in this message

- Send instructions for use that may also mention your
newsletter or discussion group (you probably wouldn't
want to include a "hard sell" here)

- Follow up with a message a few days after the purchase
that asks how things are going and then offers a discount
on a related item

- Send another message a few days later to remind your
customer of the discounted offer and urge them to buy
before the offer ends or the product runs out

- Send "time to refill" reminders or "time to upgrade"
messages as appropriate

If you use autoresponders in this way, you can start
confirming orders automatically... providing instructions
automatically... and GENERATING HUGE PROFITS IN
FOLLOW-UP SALES -- AUTOMATICALLY!
