You know that hundreds, if not thousands, of people want and
need your products and services. You're spending good m0ney on
advertising and mailings and you have a great looking website
up, but you're still not getting all the clients you want or
could handle. Why aren't more people responding to your
marketing?
The most likely reason is your small business marketing
materials aren't answering the q.uestions your prospects are
asking about your goods and services.
Imagine you wanted a new car and walked into by a dealer's
showroom. You spot the sleek looking model you’re interested in
and go over to take a look. It's at this moment that a salesman
walks up to you and introduces himself.
You start asking him q.uestions about what makes this car worth
so much, what it's good for, what features are included,
guarantees, etc. Then you ask him if you can take the car for a
test drive. n0w imagine that the salesman responded to each
q.uestion with a shrug and said, 'You'll just have to buy it to
find out if it is what you want.'
If the salesperson couldn't or wouldn't answer your q.uestions,
you'd most likely walk out and head for a car dealer where they
could give you detailed answers to all your q.uestions.
You don't want your prospects to walk away and possible turn to
one of your competitors do you? Of course not, but if your
marketing isn't answering your prospects' q.uestions you're
going to continue to see most prospects walk away from your
marketing materials and look to make their purchase elsewhere.
My small business clients generally report that once they meet
with a prospect, they can close 20 to 50% of s.ales.
The problem is getting prospects to contact you or selling
services and products without a s.ales conversation at all,
through the Internet or direct mail. Your marketing has to be as
good as you are face-to-face. Is it?
Bob and Dennis from Kansas called with just this small business
problem. Once they meet with a prospect and present their
information, their closing rate is almost 50%. The problem was
that despite getting ten thousand visitors to their web site in
the last couple of months, only a handful of these had contacted
them. You can't close more s.ales without qualified leads.
When you're face-to-face with a prospect, you know how to get a
conversation going and to answer all the q.uestions they have
about your products and services. Prospects reading a s.ales
letter or your web site or listening to an ad also need their
q.uestions answered. No answers, no s.ales.
Once I explained to Bob and Dennis how to focus their web site
marketing and use it to answer their prospects'
q.uestions, and they made the necessary changes to their site,
they saw their leads and s.ales surge.
So what are the q.uestions your small business prospects would
ask if you were meeting with them? What do they want to know in
order to be convinced you can help them?
What are the q.uestions your marketing needs to answer?
What information should your marketing materials give prospects
in order to make a s.ale?
Whether you're marketing a product or a service, your prospects
want to know:
- Who is it for?
- What's the primary problem it solves?
- How will I be better off with it?
- Will it really do what you’re telling me it will?
- What specifically will it do to solve my problem or answer my
concern?
- Is this information for real?
- Is it the newest or latest model?
- Who else has bought it? What did they think of it?
- Why should I trust you?
- Is yours the best company to get this item from?
- Is it a fair value?
- I really want it, but how can I justify spending the m0ney?
- Do I really need it n0w?
- Why should I make this purchase today, or this week?
- How can I make sure I'm not making a mistake?
- Okay, I’m ready to get it, but tell me again why I should wantit?
- If I buy it, how complicated will it be to use? What kind of
help will I get?
- How long will I have to wait to get it?
- Yes, I made the purchase, tell me again why it was worth all
the m0ney I spent?
- I own it, n0w how can I get the most of out it?
Want ten times as many clients? Start by giving your prospects
ten times as many reasons to contact you and buy from you and
you'll see your s.ales soar.
If your small business marketing isn't generating all the
clients you can handle, it's not giving prospects the
information they need to make a decision to contact you or buy.
You can keep using the same small business marketing strategy,
the same marketing materials and the same marketing copy and get
the same results — or you could discover how to give your
prospects the information they want and see your s.ales
skyrocket.

Building Content
A website is more than just merging photos and graphics.
Webmasters must also integrate quality themed content into
their website. A "sticky" website is one that attracts
individuals and encourages them to return. "Sticky websites"
contains content that is related and of interest to the
prospective customers. A sticky site is a place people will
visit again and again. By creating an atmosphere people like
to revisit, will increase their exposure to your product or
service.
1. Top 10
Create a top 10 list of industry sites resources, and
products that are related to the website's theme. The list
should contain helpful resources or authority sites that are
respected and have genuine useful information. Providing a
credible top 10 will help web visitors and showcase
tenability of the website.

If you managed an industry website, consider creating a

assist in the visitor's decision making.

Product warnings, recalls or alerts are generally issued by
government agencies. The product alerts contain a list of
related products, and any critical information related to

from a specific industry or sector, displaying critical
information will generate goodwill with potential customers
and demonstrate social-consciousness.

4. Buyers Guides.
Creating a buyer's guide is especially useful in the holiday
season. A buyers guide or gift guide will attract both
advertisers and web surfers. You can create a Buyers Guide
using a web form, which effectively makes the process easier
to manage. You can take the the Buyers Guide a step further,
by making the guide interactive. Ask website visitors
questions and offer helpful suggestions, based on their
preferences. Analysis of product specifications, features,
reviews and comparisons can be provided as part of an online
buyers guide, important products or services can be
highlighted in the guide.

Creating educational tutorials or demonstrations about how a
technology or service is effective in a specific industry or

materials also distinguishes the website publishers as
knowledgeable in a specific area.

6. Glossary.
Decipher those difficult to understand words, for your
website visitors. Despite sometimes being entrenched in an

terms related to a product or service. Educating users about
the lingo will help them better understand a product or
services benefit.

The historical perspective will educate and attract those

Retaining customers is one of the most challenging tasks
for managers in all industries and this phenomenon has
been continuing for long. Retaining customers is one of
the most important activities that the company can
indulge in. it is easy to understand that it is more
expensive and difficulty to get new customers as compared
to expenses in retaining old customer. Instead of having
a customer for a single purchase, if you can have a
customer for a life, it will make your business a
success.
Over time, repeat business brings you more profit
than you could even imagine without as much effort as
you would need to employ if you were attempting to
gain new customers all the time. Nurturing your
existing customers is always less expensive and more
effective than spending the money to get new ones. A
loyal following helps to build your brand and your
reputation as satisfied customers spread the word
about your good service.
Since new customers are normally introduced through old
ones, your existing customers help promote your business
anyway. On an average, a new customer requires at least
seven visits before he buys something from you; an effort
that is greatly reduced if an old client refers you. So
you save not only money but time and effort too. Look
after your existing customers and they will ensure that
your business succeeds and grows with time.
Retaining customers does not have to be difficult at
all. If you stay in touch with current customers and
continue to survey prospects though loyalty programs,
opt in email or customer surveys, you will always be
one step ahead of their needs. By anticipating their
wants and needs, then meeting or exceeding them,
customers will be impressed with the value you give
them and will continue to want to do business with you.
This can only be a good thing!
Loyalty programs are a key way businesses keep
customers satisfied. Reward your clients for doing
business with you, and they will take notice of what
you have to say and what you have to offer. Ignore
your customers, and they will go away. So the moral of
the story is - appreciate your current customer base;
they are the people that keep you in business and
without them, your company wouldn't exist.

I’ve been actively researching ways to quickly and effectively
build content to websites. And while blogs tend to be near
the top of the list, there are other opportunities out there.
One such opportunity is a Wiki. And while a Wiki won’t suit
all sites, there are those that can use a Wiki effectively.
If you think you are one of those sites, take a look at
this article.
What is a Wiki?
Wiki is a piece of server software that allows users to
freely create and edit web page content using any Web browser.
Wiki supports hyperlinks and has a simple text syntax for
creating new pages and links between internal pages on the fly.
Wiki is unusual among group communication mechanisms in
that it allows the organization of contributions to be
edited in addition to the content itself.
Like many simple concepts, “open editing” has some profound
and subtle effects on Wiki usage. Allowing everyday users
to create and edit any page in a Web site is exciting in
that it encourages democratic use of the Web and promotes
content composition by nontechnical users.
A History of Wiki
The first ever Wiki site was created for the Portland
Pattern Repository in 1995. That site now hosts tens
of thousands of pages. Since then they have grown to
become one of the most popular community and web
based applications available.
One of the most well known and popular Wiki
projects is the Wikipedia.
Why Use a Wiki?
Wikis are growing at a phenomenal pace. This is because,
at their core, they are about as simple as can be. That
simplicity means that people find them easy to use, just
like e-mail and blogs and like e-mail and blogs, Wikis
also perform a very useful service in a simple way. A
Wiki allows a group of people to enter and communally
add or edit entries. These entries can be viewed and
edited by anyone who visits the Wiki.
What this means is that, when you come to a Wiki, you
are able to read what the Wiki’s community has written.
By clicking an “edit” button on an article, you are able
to edit the article’s text. You can add or change
anything you like in the article you are reading.
This simplicity and the utter openness of a Wiki cause
many people to instantly reject the idea. They assume
that because anyone can edit a Wiki at any time, the
Wiki must be flawed. But Wiki supporters claim this
is an incorrect assumption.
This is because users involved in Wikis tend to be
self policing. They check and re-check facts entered
by themselves and others. Much like bloggers who can
spot a spam blog quickly, Wiki users also know
when a Wiki looks fraudulent.
Also, while not many Wiki employ it, there is the
ability to have editorial control over the Wiki. That
means that the Wiki owner can hold approval rights to
all entries. Plus many Wikis require a simple
registration before allowing entry or editing
of articles.
SEM Benefits of Wiki
The biggest benefit of a Wiki likes in its use of
heavy interlinking between pages. As a Wiki grows
to become a resource it refers to itself more and
more often through these links. For example,
look at this wikipedia page about Wikis:

One would think that such heavy interlinking would
cause the search engine to review the site more
closely, potentially marking the site as spam.
However, provided the site is useful, and because
of the fact that it is a Wiki, search engines
tend to let this type of heavy interlinking
pass their usually rigorous spam tests.
Also, because it is community based, the Wiki
provides an almost endless supply of new
and fresh content to the website.
