A Weekly Free Publication dedicated to bringing you the truth about online businesses and marketing tools. There's a new Sheriff in town!!! To receive our weekly email newsletter, send a blank email to: mailto:AffiliateReview@Quicktell.com or visit: http://www.TheAffiliateReview.com Ya Gotta Write! It was the evening of his life. He had just turned 65 and retired. It wasn't exactly his idea, but he was OK with that. He'd had a good run at life. Joe had been an insurance man the whole of his adult life. He'd dropped out of college when Martha had Joe Jr. and had taken the first job he could find. As it turned out, he was good at it and after a while he even learned to enjoy it. Joe had worked hard to give his family a good life, put 2 kids through college and paid off the house...three times! But now, the kids had moved away seeking lives of their own, and it was just him and Martha. He was looking forward to enjoying the rest of his life. He'd earned it and he was determined to make his sunset one to remember. He'd managed to save a little money and they would get by, he would figure out something, but right now he was just gonna enjoy his freedom. He swore he would never wear another tie as long as he lived. Wouldn't even let them bury him in one! Now it was a year later. Money was getting tight and Joe was getting bored. The other day, he'd found himself sitting in front of the TV watching soaps. That was the last straw. Retirement just wasn't what he had hoped it would be. Something had to change before he snapped. And then one day on the golf course, Fred was talking about the Internet. "The whole world's goin' Internet, Joe", he explained after his third shot from the bunker on the 15th. "There's fortunes to be made for anyone who has the time". Fred was kind of a know-it-all and could be right irritatin' at times, but he did get Joe to thinking. "Well, I've got a computer",he thought. "I don't know squat about the World Wide Web, but Martha got an internet connection so she could keep in touch with the kids through their email. I can type, sort of, and I'm intelligent, sort of. Maybe I should check this thing out. It's gotta be more entertaining than The Young And The Restless". So Joe went home, sat in front of that console, strapped himself into the cockpit, set the coordinates, pushed the button and blasted off into cyberspace. 'The Final Frontier'. "Beam me up Scottie, There's no intelligent life down here". Almost immediately, he was hooked. He'd been dragged into the future, kickin' and screamin' all the way, but now that he was here, he loved it! He felt likeCaptain Kirk. "I'll take over Sulu", he thought as he punched that search button at the top of the console, and whole worlds opened up before him. "I need more power Scottie". "I'm givin' ya all she's got Captain, if ya push her any harder she'll break up"! Every thing he ever wanted to know about...everything, was right at his fingertips. "This is GREAT" exclaimed Joe, "but how do you make money at it"? Fred had told him to search for business opportunities, so he started punching in keywords. Business Opportunities, Marketing, Affiliate Programs,..... "My god, There's hundreds of thousands of them",he cried, "where do you start"? He kept reading about 'E-Books' every where he turned, so he decided that he'd read a couple of them and see where that got him. After a lot of time and a lot of reading , he started to see a pattern. There where literally thousands of programs out there designed to make you money (or get your money), but the people that were really making the money, were the ones that were telling you how ! "The Internet is The Information Highway", he thought, "so it stands to reason that the best utilization of this Internet phenomenon is to create and sell information that people need". So Joe put on his thinkin' cap and started cogitatin'. "What do I know that others would be willing to pay to find out", he thought. "I was an insurance salesman for most of my life and I know, no one wants to hear about that". "After all",he realized, "for the most part, insurance is little more than a government sanctioned scam. You can't go into business without it, can't drive without it and if you have to use it, they take it away from you, or at the very least, make you pay higher premiums cause you're a risk! Nope, that won't work". And then it dawned on him. He'd been a successful salesman! In order to succeed at anything, you had to be able to sell your product! So Joe started typing, in that hunt and peck style that he used. But the more he typed, the less he had to hunt and before long his fingers were smokin'! "Build a trust between you and your clients. Credibility and trust are the two most important keys to success". "Never hype your product, they'll see right through you and your credibility will be gone forever"! "Show people how your product will benefit them, how their very lives would be enriched by utilizing what you have to offer. Give them examples of how it has helped others". "Be ready for their objections and hesitations and deal with them with straight forward honesty". "Don't try to sell your product to people who don't need it". "Believe in yourself and your business and above all, HAVE FUN WITH IT. If you can't enjoy it, GET OUT! Life is way too short". Joe was typing like a madman. You could almost see the smoke comin' out of his ears. Before he knew it, he'd written a book. . It was a little rough, but he'd done it. And even more importantly, he'd enjoyed it. He'd always been good with words (He'd had to be in his line of business) so, it shouldn't have come as a surprise that he could write, too. He decided to submit an article to a couple of online newsletters to see what others thought. They loved it! He wrote from his heart with conviction and passion and before he knew it, he was being published all over the net. People just couldn't seem to get enough of him. He started his own newsletter and wrote weekly of his thoughts and experience, but he never stopped writing articles for other ezines. He fine tuned his book and made it available to the masses. And now he sits on the beaches of the world with his 'laptop', while Martha and the grandkids play in the waves. And the moral of the story? Playing golf can change your life! (Nah, Just kidding) Everyone has a book in them. Something they have garnered from life that they need to tell the world. The key to writing is reading and you need to read a lot. Reading gives you ideas and allows you to be more creative in your own writing. Remember, there hasn't been an original thought written in thousands of years. Just new ways of expressing them. Write from the heart. Write with conviction. Write about something important to you, 'cause If you want to be successful in cyberspace, Ya Gotta Write! "Beam me up Scottie". To Affiliate or Not To Affiliate...Is That The Question? By Len Thurmond Working affiliate programs, or your own programs for that matter, is a job. A hard job. One that requires a great deal of work and dedication to achieve success. Nothing in this life is free. But once you've persevered and climbed to the summit of Mt. Success, the maintenance of that lofty peak is relatively painless. This is the pinnacle that we all strive to reach. Those who work at it hard enough will achieve their goals and find their financial freedom, while those who continue to look for the easy ascent will continually find themselves lost in the forests of the foothills, with gremlins and goblins biting at their heels. Obviously, the best path through the forest, is the path which leads to the marketing of your own products. (Why split the profits with someone else when you can keep it all for yourself?) This, however, is much easier said than done. Oh yea, I know, everywhere you turn they're telling you how easy it is, but think about it for a minute. There are literally thousands of people throwing together ebooks by compiling other peoples thoughts and presenting them as the best of... whatever. Chapters of opinions shuffled together like so many cards and dealt out as the best new get rich quick game since Blackjack! This will no longer be tolerated!. The 21st Century netpreneur has gotten wise to this tactic, and no longer buys into the hype they read, unless they recognize and respect the author, and even then a sloppy composition of replicated drivel will ruin the 'reputation' of the once respected entrepreneur. (Their most valuable commodity) Coming up with a quality product (not to mention a respected and recognizable name) takes a lot of time, imagination, research and money! Enter the Affiliate Program. The affiliate program is a win win situation for everyone. The creator of these products gets invaluable free advertising and only has to split his profits with those who are successful at making him money, while... By working off of the good name and success of the products creator, hardworking, dedicated and imaginative 'Marketeers' can attain an instant income from marketing such affiliate products. That said... The biggest and most often committed mistake is to take on too many programs at once. You can make a lot more money by picking and concentrating on 1 or 2, than you can by signing up for everything that comes along, in hopes that one of them will work. Success demands dedication and hard work. If you don't work for them, they won't work for you! If you are willing to put in the time and effort of marketing 1 or 2 quality Affiliate programs (and the key word here is Quality), then you can attain a certain amount of success, allowing you the time and money to work on the ultimate goal... Respect and recognition of your name and the creation of a product that fulfills a need. This, I believe, is the key to success. Take your time. Do the research and give the people something that they want and need! What they don't need is another card game! In the meantime, since we all like to eat and Pampers are going up daily, affiliate programs, when chosen and marketed properly, will see you through, while the lofty ascent continues. See you at the summit, and don't let the gremlins get ya'... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Len Thurmond is the editor & founder of 'The Affiliate Review' A Weekly Free Publication dedicated to bringing you the truth about online businesses and marketing tools. " By Len Thurmond How do you measure success? Most of us spend our entire lives saying yes sir, no sir and doing exactly what we're told. We're programmed not to have original thoughts and those who do usually pass from this world wishing they had acted upon them. For this dedication to normality, we're given a good 'JOB' with which to support ourselves and our families, and for the very bright and chosen few, that "JOB" pays extremely well. But with the large bank account comes 10 to 12 hour days, 6 to 7 day weeks and usually a lot of traveling. These six figure 'employees' never see the families that they work so hard to give this prosperous life to, and have to accept the inevitable domestic problems which come with the territory. And then there's the people who own their own small businesses outside of the home. They go to work each day to their stores and offices just like any other "job", but at least they don't have to answer to anyone, right? The truth is, they have to answer to everyone who walks through their door! Where the employee can just get fed up, quit and move on to another job, the business owner has his or her entire life tied up with their business and generally can't just walk away. They usually work more hours for less money than anyone else and just like the "successful employee", they never see their families either. Is this Success? If you measure success by the number of zeros you can tack on to your annual income, then I suppose it is. But, if we measure our success by happiness, then I think we need to take another look. Although a certain amount of financial freedom must be tied into the dream of success (the ability to pay ones bills and live comfortably, certainly reduces stress, the greatest happiness killer of all time), the ability to watch and direct your children's growth, to see that first step, to be there to answer their difficult questions the way you want them answered, instead of having to farm them out to someone else in hopes that they will do it right, and the interaction which goes along with that, not to mention the marital stability that comes with doing it together, seems to me to be a far better definition of success. Until now, that dream has been like the elusive butterfly. That beautiful metamorphic being, fluttering from place to place, always just out of reach until finally, it's gone. But, for the first time since the beginning of the industrial age, the common man has the proper tool to catch the elusive butterfly of success. The 'Net'! The Internet is a cultural revolution of historical proportions! Never before has so much opportunity been offered to so many for free! The opportunities are unlimited, but the timeframe is not! As the Internet proves more and more to be the way of the future, large corporations will be and are taking over. This has been inevitable from the start, but there is still opportunity and there is still time! The successful small upstart dot com's are slowly being bought out as the big money moves in. Although many have, are and will continue to make a very good living through such endeavors, the ones who are reaching the pinnacle of success are the ones who have built their online businesses to a point where they are noticed and bought out by the real money makers, the Bill Gates of the world. If your final measure of success is to retire comfortably, then this is your goal, and through hard work, diligent planning and persistence this certainly is an attainable goal. Obviously, your first priority must be the development of your product. The successful entrepreneurs on the Internet are the ones who have discovered a need, filled it, marketed it properly and orchestrated it's growth, for growth is the key. Success is in the numbers. If you publish an Ezine, then success is in the size of your subscription base. If your goal is to attract targeted prospects to your website, then success lies in the number of unique hits that your site receives. For the statistics clearly show that the number of sales is a very small percentage of the total number of hits, usually between 1 and 5 percent. The ratios derived from Ezine advertising are somewhat higher, between 10 and 15 percent and is generally considered the most effective marketing strategy, due to the ability to target already interested prospects. There are countless other strategies for raising your numbers, but no matter how you do it, if you pick a product that there is a demand for and concentrate on building your numbers, you will be successful. Whether you measure your success by retiring from the sale of your business or by making a living from your home with your family surrounding you, the elusive butterfly is far less elusive while we, the little people, still have the net! Surf it, Search it, Find a need that is lacking and fill it. Then your own metamorphosis can begin! Success is not a goal, It's a journey! By Len Thurmond Twas the week before Christmas and in my ezine, The words just weren't coming , twas blank as my mind. Twas hard to think business, when under the tree, All the presents were waiting for the family and me. The kids were asleep and the wife was in bed And I'd settled down, typed, and then read. The problem was just that the words were not right, just visions of Santa an Rudolf's bright light. It's not believing in Santa, you see, Or visions of what's left under the tree, It's just that the season should be so much more, Then the getting of presents and all the folklore. Tis the time to remember the ones that you love, The family still here and the ones now above. For family and friends are all that we are, Whether they're here or loved from afar. Tis nice to get a present or two, But far more important to hear, I love you. For some of us need to know you still care, Or just if you're needed, that you'll still be there. Sometimes the seeds of love, that were planted, Will cease to grow when taken for granted. So pick up the phone, or write them a letter, Contact and tell them, that you will do better, Tell them you love them and sing it out loud, And make sure they know, they stand out in your crowd. For life is too short for them not to know, That you've not forgotten, to honor them so. Our parents, our sisters, our brothers and friends, Are all so important until this life ends. Without them you're no one, and stand all alone, So pick it up NOW, GO RUN TO THE PHONE! Do it this minute, Do it today, Don't let this feeling, just slip away. Tell them you love them, if you do it just right, It'll be a good Christmas and be a good night. By: Len Thurmond Each week I critique an online business opportunity in my weekly newsletter 'The Affiliate Review', and each week the email responses are amusing and predictable. When the review is a positive one, I get almost no response at all. Presumably my readership either agrees with me or assumes that I am just plugging the programs for my own financial gain, and in a few cases, this is true. However, let me make it very clear that I am not a card carrying member of every program that I endorse. I firmly believe that if you try to work too many programs at once, you end up doing justice to none. Two or three good ones is more than enough! The amusing part comes from the response to the negative reviews. Each time I write a negative review, I get flooded with emails from the participants of those poor assaulted programs. Those who regularly read my articles or subscribe to my newsletter, have probably come to the conclusion, that I am not a big fan of MLM companies. The truth is, however, that it is not the MLM part that I take exception to. On the contrary, it's the numerous companies that hide behind the MLM shield to make a profit... And the masses be Damned! The basic concept of MLM is not only sound, but brilliant! Let's take a look at this concept... Let's say a company markets products that are both used and needed by the majority of the public. Obviously, the best products to market are consumables, those products that are used and then reordered. This creates a continuing market share, from their existing customer base. All the company has to do now, is build on that base. Enter the MLM concept. The main focus of MLM companies is in the building of their sales force. The concept being that if every member can recruit a handful of members and they all buy their own products, instead of buying them from someone else (which only makes sense, why would you buy a product, that you sell, from someone else), then the end result is an exponential growth of customers, that are buying the companies products, i.e.; I get six, who each get six, who each get six, etc., (you do the math) To further stimulate sales, the company pays each member a percentage of the product usage, down through a number of levels, those being members who recruited members, who recruited members, etc., etc., all consuming their own product line. The company sells their products without having to advertise and jump through all of the expensive hoops that Non-MLM companies have to deal with, and their members not only get the products that they need in everyday life, but also get paid to use them and to convince others to do the same. However, in order for this scenario to be successful an sustainable, it MUST adhere to the criteria of the following two Cardinal Rules... 1) The products MUST be as good or better than those bought in the traditional fashion, and 2) They MUST be competitively priced. These, I think, are the areas that all too many MLM programs come up short. Now I don't want all you MLMer's, out there, to get your bowels in an uproar over this and start sending me mail bombs. I'm not targeting any programs in particular , but if this makes you mad, then I must have hit a nerve, and perhaps you should take a closer look at your particular choice of endeavors. There are good companies and bad companies in every segment of marketing and the trick is to settle on a good one and stick with it until you achieve success. All too many of these companies focus completely on the building of their downlines to the exclusion of their products, altogether. By law, they have to have products, but to the companies that fit into this category, any ole product will do. They just keep harping on the easy income that everyone will make if you can get enough people to by into their hype. The problem with this train of thought is obvious. When their members get tired of buying inferior products without seeing any appreciable income, they move on to something else, leaving the ones who are desperately trying to make it work, in a constant state of replacing the deserters. The breaking of the other Cardinal Rule is equally devastating, if not as quick a death. Many MLM companies will jack up their prices to cover the loss in profits that they incur by paying their downline percentages, and sooner or later, the members of these programs get tired of paying exorbitant prices for their necessities. All to often, even if they do manage to make a little money, it's usually only enough to offset the difference in price. Yes, there are tens of thousands of people who are very successful in both of these categories of MLM, but I have to ask this question. Which would you rather do? Sell quality products, to people who need them, at a competitive price and give them the chance to profit by passing on that opportunity to others, or Work towards becoming one of the relative few that get rich from ripping off the masses by selling them overpriced, inferior products and unfounded dreams. The choice is clearly yours. Look closely at the programs that you are approached by, and try to choose one that can benefit both you and your downline. Rule of thumb...If you wouldn't be happy to buy their products just for the sake of using them, then you should probably just keep lookin'! Remember, this is a business, and no business endeavor should be entered into lightly. If you're going to put your time and energy into a program, make sure you truly believe in it and are not just buying into the hype! Your future, not to mention your reputation is on the line! Ken is one of the top E-marketers in the business. This 5 part course alone could double or triple your affiliate business. Do You Play The Numbers? Make no mistake about it, if you're marketing on the net, you're playin' the numbers. Sure, I know there are other things that are important, but the two major deciding factors, of whether or not any advertising campaign is successful, are: Quality of prospects,and... Quantity of prospects. No matter what kind of silver tongued devil you are, you'll never attract more than a small percentage of the people who read your copy. Therefore, it's imperative to reach as many as you possibly can, and to try to make sure they're the right group of people. You definitely, don't want to market your new 'Work at home, Affiliate program' to The Recipe of the Week Club. You might find someone in that group that has an interest in both categories, but the odds are against you. So, the big question is...Where do you find this group of targeted prospects? The absolute best way to create your own quality list of truly targeted prospects, is to publish an Ezine with content that appeals to your chosen market. Make no mistake about it folks, putting together a decent Ezine is a lot of work. Unless you're a literary genius, it's not something that you just sit down and throw together in a hour and expect anyone to read more than once or twice! But, building your subscriber list is the hardest task of all! The obvious desired result of an Ezine, from a Publishers point of view, is to build a large list of loyal subscribers who respect you enough to at least look into whatever you think is worthy of their time. This takes time and money! Marketing an Ezine is exactly the same process as marketing anything else, only the end results are different. In marketing your Ezine, you're building on your future. I'm sure you've all heard the expression, "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, but teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!" Well folks, it's hard work building it, but if you build it right, you just might be able to sit in that boat all day, and it might just be a pretty nice boat at that! This past week, I came across a program that will help you build that subscription base and, if you work it, it'll make you a lot of money at the same time. It's called "FunEzines". This great program was brought to my attention by JL Scott, Director of iCop and if he recommends it, you can be sure it's worthwhile. FunEzines promotes your Ezine for you, for free. Their extensive advertising efforts attract people from all walks of life and offer them a huge assortment of free Ezines to choose from. They actively promote your Ezine and all you pay for are the 'verified' new subscribers that they bring you. They verify the new subscribers email address and then supply you with that address and their name. Then you are billed once a month at twenty one cents per subscriber, a true bargain! I recently had an ad run, promoting 'The Affiliate Review', in another well known Ezine of about 1500 subscribers, and received 38 new subscribers from that ad, in one day. One of those was already one of my subscribers, and another one gave me an autoresponder for an address (I hate it when that happens! That's one of the nastiest and cruelest jokes that anyone can play on a publisher.)Anyway... This was a very respectable return. You certainly can't expect results like that all the time. If you consistently get results of 1 to 2 percent, you're doing good. Now, let's do the math. If the ad cost $10, then each new subscriber would be an investment of twenty-eight cents. So, twenty-one cents per verified subscriber, is a bargain! Most importantly, THESE GUYS GET RESULTS! But here's the best part! They also have a great affiliate program. They will pay you eight cents for every Ezine that anyone, who you refer to their site, subscribes to, and pay you ten percent of the income of any new affiliates that you refer. This is a good program, folks, and one that we all need! There are reports of people receiving between 5 an 20 new subscribers per day. We all know how important it is to keep up with what's going on in our chosen fields, and the best way, is to subscribe to a bunch of good Ezines in that field. Most of us subscribe to at least ten or twenty different Ezines. Wouldn't it be nice to cash in on that phenomenon. Advertise this opportunity, let people know where they can find a great selection of the Ezines, that they need to be reading, and you too, can get your share of this ever growing pie. There's money to be made here, and lists to be grown. After all, That's What We're All Here For Isn't It? Ken is one of the top E-marketers in the business. This 5 part course alone could double or triple your affiliate business. JUST SAY NO! Well Gang, Looks like it's time for another rousing game of... "RECESSION" But ya know what... I don't want to play anymore! Think I'll... Just Say NO!!! Ya know what causes a recession? 'Uncle Alan' and his cronies. Seems that they decided we've had it too good for too long and now, it's time to teach us humility. How dare we be prosperous and enjoy life! Course, they do it for our own good, right? I mean, ya can't really appreciate what you have until it's been taken away...right? So how do they do it? One little flick of their magic 'Interest Rate Wands', and we take care of the rest. First, The Chicken Little Press Squad, starts runnin' around the countryside screamin' "The economy is fallin', The economy is fallin'!", and then we, the faithful Lemmings that we are, start screamin', "Oh no, Martha, The economy is fallin'! Don't spend another dime until we know what's gonna happen." And ya know what happens next? Business revenues drop, like the Lemmings off the cliff, and the destructive factor of these dropping revenues, is directly proportionate to the size of the pile at the bottom of that cliff! Housing and consumer prices go up, to compensate for the lack of business. The politicians raise the minimum wage and salaries increase(but never enough to compensate for the rising prices). Jobs start disappearing, 'cause employer's can't afford the salaries. And guess what, Folks... We're suddenly in another rousing game of... RECESSION! But ya know what... I don't want to play anymore! Think I'll... JUST SAY NO!!! We don't have any control over whether or not the other Lemmings decide to take that plunge, but we CAN make that decision for ourselves. There are a lot of people that prosper in the 'RECESSION' Game. If there weren't, trust me, we wouldn't be havin' one! All ya gotta do is figure out how to make it work FOR you instead of AGAINST you. But first you have to realize that this IS a golden opportunity. In all probability, THOUSANDS are going to lose their jobs, and findin' another one is gonna be less likely than the return of the Full Service Gas Station! Could there be a better time to promote 'Work At home' Businesses? Think about it... Those who still have jobs need to be afraid, VERY AFRAID! They need to be preparing for the possibility of unemployment. They NEED to be building their online businesses NOW, before it jumps up and bites 'em in the butt. And the poor souls who have already found themselves on the Recessions' KaKa list, just might get through this, if they can create an online income stream. (When you don't have money to invest, you can build an online business, if your willing to put in the time, and after all, what else are they gonna do with their time, watch the soaps?) We as Marketers, need to take advantage of this opportunity, instead of lining up with the rest, preparing to jump off that cliff. Be creative in your advertising, SCARE them into building that business. Not only will you be prospering from the situation at hand, but you will also be doing your part to help countless others survive the upcoming crisis. This is a copywriters dream, folks. Fear is a VERY powerful motivator. Scare them into reading your ads with your headlines, and then, tell them how your product can solve their problems. Spell it out for them, leaving nothing to the imagination. Remember, these people are desperate, not stupid! If you do it right, you'll find success beyond your wildest dreams. But, do us all a favor. Make sure YOU truly believe that your product can do what you say it will. Don't give these poor people false hope. Make sure that they know, "Nothing in this life is free". Ya gotta work for it, but if you put in the time and work hard... Make sure they can get the support that they need to succeed. These people don't have the time to figure it out on their own. They're desperate and scared. They need income ASAP. Pick a program that spells out the 'How To' and offers the technical advice that a newbie needs to get through the beginning stages of this new experience. Make that experience a good one, and they'll be your best freind and your best advertisement. One such program that I highly recommend is... 'Instant Internet Profits' This comprehensive marketing course and affiliate program by Yanik Silver, is pure genius. In it you'll find a step by step strategy with everything you need to get your online business going and succeeding immediately. Here are a few excerpts taken from a critical review by Klaus Dahl who reviews dozens and dozens of Internet marketing courses, newsletters, and private sites. Read the whole review here... http://www.TheAffiliateReview.com/KlausDahl.htm Important note: This is a critical book-review and not a salesletter or an ad! "Yanik has included all the basics: Creating your product, building a successful web site, writing a highly effective sales letter, marketing your product, getting visitors to your web site, getting the contact information of your visitors, following up with your visitors and turning them into loyal customers who buy from you again and again." "All the way, he refers to his personal experience with marketing information on the Internet. And that’s one thing I really like in 'Instant Internet Profits', that it bears evidence to being built on a solid foundation of personal experience. Again and again he refers to his real test results and to what works in practice." "Instead of just giving you a few unrelated techniques, Yanik gives you a complete STRATEGY for starting up and running your own highly successful information marketing business. But it doesn’t stop there! You see, Yanik doesn’t fall for the temptation to leave out all the details and thus causes you to stand more or less bewildered afterwards. No, he really takes the time to show you exactly what to do. In other words he gives you all the information you need to place every little piece in the puzzle of being successful as an internet entrepreneur." Summary... "This course is simply the best and most complete overall guide to Internet profits I've ever read. If you can afford to buy only one course on starting your own information marketing business on the Internet, this would be the course I would recommend. Yanik Silver gives you a complete master strategy of creating, marketing and selling your own information products on the Internet. Besides, you get all the concrete techniques and all the templates you need to get moving. So if you want to get the best overview on starting up and running your own information marketing business, this is the course I will recommend you. Take my word for it, this is a really, really good product! Get it!" Opportunity awaits those who refuse to stick their heads in the sand and waiting for 'Uncle Alan's' reprieve! Use this opportunity to your own benefit... JUST SAY NO! I've always been a Rebel. I hate following the crowd. As a child, I caused myself, and my parents, no small amount of grief and pain trying to prove that I could 'Do It My Way", and as you might guess, the results were usually predictable. I would end up slinking away, with my tail between my legs, waiting for my next opportunity to prove to 'them' that... My Way Was Better! Now, being creative, headstrong and stubborn is not necessarily a bad thing. Throughout history, all great minds possessed these qualities. Creativity, after all, is the Mother of invention, and necessary to the advancement of all things, But, when it comes to business... "If it ain't broke, Don't fix it!" You can tweak it a little, but don't mess with success! Now, don't get me wrong, creativity has it's place in marketing, in fact it's the major difference between hugely successful marketers and those who just get by. But, those hugely successful marketers use their creativity to come up with new and interesting campaigns that still utilize the tried and proven 'Rules' they adhere to stringently. If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It! Bend it, twist it, make it better, BUT DON'T BREAK IT! No matter what the object of your desire is, there are only two secrets to success. 1) Accept your mistakes and learn from them, and 2) Study those who have succeeded and learn from their success. Number two is easy, if you can get past number one, but for some of us, that's easier said than done. I was born with a creative mind. I've spent my life in the pursuit of 'Creativity'. At different points in my life, I have been a painter, sculptor, musician, wildlife and nature photographer, and through it all, a writer. I'm not happy unless I'm involved in something that allows me to be creative. So, I guess it's no surprise that my wife and I also own and operate an Art Gallery. It was through this gallery that I finally learned and accepted the secrets to success. About ten years ago, we opened the doors to our first Art Gallery. The purpose was, predominantly, as an outlet for my own work. However, realizing that my work alone would not pay the bills, we filled the gallery with beautiful works of art by already famous artists. Being an artist and connoisseur of fine art, I searched the Art world for what I believed to be the most beautiful works available and filled the gallery to bursting with these creative marvels. Each day I would go to the gallery and sit at my desk, surrounded by this inspirational beauty. It was great! It as a pleasure going to work. But my wife was still working a full time job to support us and the Gallery was barely paying for itself. People would come in asking about this or that piece of artwork and I would politely tell them that I could get it for them, but that I didn't have it in stock. They would thank me and say they would probably be back... And I would never see them again.(You only get one shot at converting looky-loos to customers...Don't Blow It!) I started seeing a pattern, and at some point, on my journey down this road to poverty, reality reached out and slapped me in the face. Suddenly, I realized, "Ya didn't have to like a painting to sell it". This was a business. I could go home at night, and admire my tastes in artwork. What I needed to do at the gallery, was offer the people what 'THEY' wanted to buy! I researched the Galleries that were successful and found out what they were selling. I found sources to keep me updated on the ever changing trends in the business. I took home 'my' idea of what should have sold and filled the Gallery with what 'was' selling and suddenly, I had a successful business on my hands. The moral to this story should be obvious. While there would seem to be little similarity between an Art Gallery and an Affiliate Program, the keys to success apply to all endeavors. If some one is successful and you're not, then there is a good chance that they know something that you don't (or at least something that you haven't accepted yet). Be creative, be different, but... If It Ain't Broke, DON'T FIX IT! One last example... About six months ago, I redesigned my website. I followed all of the rules and advice set forth by the 'experts', with the exception of one. I decided to use a really nice gray background for my webpages. I did so, because I thought it was easier on the eyes, while reading, and because I felt it was far more appealing than the plain white background that everyone else uses. The redesign must have been pretty good, because my conversion rate went up, but after six months of tracking, it wasn't as high as I would have liked. So, about a week ago, I went in and deleted my aesthetic background, just to see what would happen. ( I really didn't see what possible difference it could make, other than to make my site less attractive, but something I had read recently, made me decide to listen to the 'experts' and give it a try.) Guess what Folks, my conversion rate better than tripled overnight and has been holding steady ever since! That one little change was all it took. I don't like it as much, but like I said before, "Ya don't have to like a painting to sell it!" (you'd think he'd have learned the first time, huh) Listen to the experts Folks, there's a reason why they work on their laptops from the beaches of the world! If It Ain't Broke, DON'T FIX IT! Ken is one of the top E-marketers in the business. This 5 part course alone could double or triple your affiliate business. IT'S TIME TO RELEARN A LITTLE PATIENCE! Don't ya just love computers! Can't live with 'em and can't live without 'em. In today's world, it's almost imposable to do business, online or off, without a computer. This brave new age is both an incredible gift to mankind and the Bane of society. With today's technology, we have instant access to an almost unlimited supply of information and products. The computer has inserted itself into ours daily lives to an extent that the loss of it, even for a few days, would be catastrophic. The whole world runs on computers and every aspect of our lives is directly impacted by these god like machines. What would happen if a meteor with some strange property where to fly by our tiny, insignificant little planet and instantly, and permanently wipe out the functionality of all computers? There would be instant chaos in the streets! Our power supply would disappear. Our water supply would cease to flow. Most of our automobiles would stop dead in their tracks. Airplanes would fall from the sky. Hospital and medical facilities would suddenly cease to function. International economies would crumble overnite. Transportation of products would cease and food supplies would dry up. Not a pretty picture, is it? We have become so dependent on these tiny little silicone chips, that life as we know it, would cease to exist. And yet, The rains would still come and the flowers would still bloom. Mankind would find a way to live on beyond the computer age. Life Would Go On! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We, who make our living with this marvelous technology, tend to get too caught up in our daily need for instant gratification. It's time to wake up and smell the roses, again! There is much more to life than sitting in our desk chairs and pounding on the keyboards. Remember life before computers? It was a little slower, but no less wonderful. You had to request things through snail mail, and then wait for your products, but they still came. We didn't know any better, so it was an accepted way of life, and we were very happy with it. What's happened to us? How did we get so jaded and impatient? Last week, I lost my computer's mother board and was down and out for several days. Although I back up all my important files on a regular basis, there were many things on that computer that I no longer had access to, that kept me from doing business as usual. My subscriber list, for instance, changes on a daily basis, and my backup was a few days out of date. My computer, in it's infinite wisdom, decided to fry itself in the middle of sending last week's issue of The Affiliate Review, leaving me no possible way to know who had received it and who hadn't. Two days later, I got my computer back, and the techies that did the work, assured me that it was fixed. I checked it out by running some of the programs that I most often use and it was working great, so I sent out a test copy of the 'missing' issue. It came back to me, at the various addresses that I use, just fine, so I once again began sending it out to my subscriber base . At some point during the sending, my lovely lump of silicone and plastic died again, again leaving me no way of knowing who received it and who didn't. Back to the techies! In the end, they discovered that my CDrom and a SCSI card were defective and were shorting out something that was causing all of the problems. Now, I don't have a clue what the problem really was. I only know that I have a lot of new components and my computer is working again. So, that same afternoon, I sent out the issue for the third time... this time, successfully. After the first failed sending, I sent out a letter to the last list that I had backed up, apprising my readers of the problem and apologizing for the possibility that they might get the issue twice. And yet... Because of the horrible inconvenience of having to hit their delete key a couple of times, I lost almost a hundred subscribers and got some of the nastiest emails that you can possibly imagine. Four letter words and the whole bit! What have we become, Folks? When did we get to the point that such trivial things make us so angry? I get a half a dozen SPAM complaints each month from people who can't remember that they subscribed to my ezine, or even more infuriating, people who can't remember what address they used, and then get angry with me, because I can't find them in my lists to remove them. And then there is the SOLO AD... There are over a hundred thousand ezines out there, and granted, most of them are garbage. But, there are some really good ones too! The editors of these fountains of knowledge spend a tremendous amount of time working, to put together quality newsletters that their readers can profit by. And yet, putting out any ezine is a business. None of us does it to fill up our bored little lives. Ezines sell advertising just like any other publication. While most of us do love to write, we also like to eat, occasionally, and the advertising keeps food on the table and allows us to continue to offer our readers an email worth receiving. And yet, every time we send out a Solo ad, we get complaints, unsubscribes, flames and SPAM threats. It's time to relearn a little patience! If sitting in front of that monitor is making you that cranky, maybe you should take a break and go smell the roses. It's a beautiful world out there, Folks. Enjoy it. Accept that life is gonna throw a few monkey wrenches in your works and lighten up. Life is way too short to let little things like an unwanted or unexpected email put us in such a tizzy. Hit Delete. Go outside and take a deep breath, or go to the mountains and soak in a cold stream. There are many ways to deal with stress, other than taking it out on someone who is trying to help you. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. But even if you can take it, make SURE you get out of the kitchen every once in a while. Your cooking will be the better for it, and your customers just might come back for more of your wonderful cuisine!
